Poker is so much more situational then a book allows it to be. That is one of the reasons I am reading Phil Gordon's "Little Green Book" which I will follow with his, "Little Blue Book" and finally his "Little Gold Book"
I have made my way through about 1/3 of the green book and my poker playing right now is like lumpy mashed potatoes. Functional, but not the creme da lecreme.
This always happen to me when I go back to reading books. It is as if my mind needs time to digest what I have read in order to make it palpable to my playing style.
I played two tournaments on Black Chip and bombed them completely. Although one of them was a pretty bad beat . . . seems like I am seeing a lot of those.
I will persevere through this though. I know it can't last and I know I will be a better poker player because of it.
